Tens and Ones and Cubes, Oh My!

We are working on understanding place value. We found out that you can break apart a ten, but you can't break apart a one.

Did you know that you can't switch the digits around because you would get a different number?

Yesterday we used cubes to arrange numbers in different ways.  Mrs. Kaufman said our focus and diligence in this activity was phenomenal!

A Fine, Fine School by Sharon Creech

Mr. Myers visited our class yesterday and read the story A Fine, Fine School to us.  It is a story about a principal who wants to have school on weekends and during the summer.  It was fun to have Mr. Myers visit our classroom and we are glad that he wants to keep the school schedule just like it is.  But he did make it clear that he thinks we have a fine, fine school with fine, fine students.  We told him we think he is a fine, fine principal!  Thanks for visiting our classroom, Mr. Myers.

We're All in this Together

Every student created a unique puzzle piece for our class puzzle. Students then worked to put the pieces back together.

Students working together to figure out the puzzle.

Almost there!

Each student in Team 184 is as unique as a puzzle piece!  If we were missing even one piece, our puzzle would not be complete. The finished product is a wonderful representation of our class as a whole!  Each piece of the puzzle is absolutely essential to our class.  We are all very different, but when we are put together, we make a beautiful picture!

Poetry
Mrs. Kaufman loves poetry!  Last week Team 184 wrote "I Am" (Based on Eileen Roe's book, I Am) poems and Bucket Fillers acrostic poems.  They worked independently and with partners.  There will be plenty of poetry this year, so keep your eyes open for poems on the blog.  This class has great potentional as poets.

A Learning Club is a cluster of desks that works as a small community where Teammates collaborate and have discussions.
