Reading Response

In team 184 we are writhing letters to Mrs.Kaufman
about what we see, hear, and feel in our minds as we read.

So, if we are reading Judy Moody Saves The World, We would start out:

Dear Mrs.Kaufman,

I am reading Judy Moody Saves
The World we would say I can see Judy finding
her flashlight and her notebook. Then you can say I can hear the stairs creaking when she is walking
down the stairs. Or we can say what we are wondering. So I would say I am wondering if her mom, dad, or her brother Stink can hear her getting
down stairs. I can say I am thinking will she get
in trouble for waking up so early? In the letter we
are making, we can ask questions like,  "Why is she
getting all the stuff?"

Using your sensory imagination helps the reader make connections, ask questions, and understand the story better.  Why?  Because it gets you deeper into the story and then you care more.

PAT Time

Science is the best! Before winter break, we did a science experiment for PAT time.

First Mrs.Kaufman took the celery out of the package then we had to draw a picture of what it looked like.

We added food coloring to the water and made a hypothesis about wheter the celery would turn color in two hours.

Guess what?  It did!

The celery turned colors because the celery drank up the water and it went up to the top.

Minds in Motion!!

Team 184 has started going to Minds in Motion.  In the Minds in Motion room you go over obstcales and it helps you with your focus.  There are all kinds of activities there to help your brain.  It also helps you with your reading.  And besides that, it is fun!

Schema

In our class we have schema all over the place.

ZP has gone lazer tagging.

ZH has broken her arm.

HB has ridden a bike.

LPH wants to go to Duke University.

GM hopes to go to the regional soccer tournament.

TK eats pancakes.

KK's brother broke his arm.

AB went swimming.

HR's brother threw her iPod in the snow.

IM wants to learn more.

EA has taken Tae Kwon Do.

AL has visited her cousin.

Your schema helps you when you are reading, because if the book says something you have done, it is easy to remember.

It helps  you understand what the character is going through.

Schema Rocks!
