Field Day

Field Day is the day before the end of the school year. We have stations that day  like water balloons, Popsicle, shuddle run, hurdles, paruchute, frisbee golf, mass tag, playground, guard the pin, botan relays, jumprope bands, gym challenge, and water.

Sadsadsad Thing

Today our class heared that Mrs.Kain is not coming back next year. So our class signed a big peice of paper to thank her for being our music teacher.We will miss her but we still have Mrs.Uhey next year by A.L and Z.H

Awards

Today in team 184 we are having Awards and we are doing a program for our parents. We are doing Room 184,Never Say Never,Metaphor,Fire Flies,Bully Proof,Angels Picnic and My Wish. All of us has parts to read.  We will do the Awards then the Songs and poems.It will be a lot of fun but we need to do it right or it won't make since if we got out of order in the song so we need to do it right and do it in the right order.If you want to know what we are doing you can read this.We know we will have a good time.

Morning Work

Every morning we have morning work on the board to do.  Sometimes it tells us morning work on the chalkboard (rarely), but sometimes nothing is on the board, or chalkboard,  so either we just read, write, or draw, or the morning work is already is on our desk. So that's our morning work goes!

Field Day Fun

The end of the year is coming and that means field day! We will have water balloons, hurdles, parachute, frisbee golf, mass tag, playground,popsicles, guard the pin, baton relays, jump rope\jump bands,and gym challenge. As you can see we will have alot of FUN!
The 4th graders did alot of work to prepare for this so lets give them an Oxbow cheer {YAY OH HOOT HOOT HOOT.}  The date is June 5th that is very close. The dress code is pants only 3 in. above the knees and a shirt that covers shoulders { dress' the same as pants.} As you can see this will be 1 day to remember. But remember to not just have fun but listen to your adults and students or its not going to be fun for you in the office.

Concert

One day the high school kids came and they put on a big show it was the best in the world!They were awesome an one  girl had a solo and she was awesome.  She had a beautiful  voice.

Reading Rotations

Right know are class is doing rotations. 

TK and Zh are blogging.  

The kids are working on their rotations like reading response, and word work, and listening to stories and book club.

Reading rotations help us with our fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and understanding of words.

Concert FUN!

C.I.S came in and put on a concert themed rock for us. Some people even saw their brothers & sisters, like G.M., L.S.H, and T.K.

Planting Seeds

Dear Readers,

Team 184 has just planted seeds in the classroom. First Mrs. Kaufman gave us three beans then a ziploc bagand a paper towel. Then we folded  the paper towel and put it in the bag then she poured water into the bag then. Fianlly we put the beans right in the middle and she taped them on the windows.   Today we planted them in dirt in a cup.  They are beans plants.

Area and Perimeter

Team 184 has been doing perimiter and area! We actully did an experiment..... well kind of. First Mrs. Kaufman gave us all a math packet that had like 7 pages in it. We were going to try to fill up a big sqare with all of the pages we do.So we had 20 minutes to work on it.After we were done with it we went outside and mrs kaufman brought rocks and shels in a bucket.She called our names and estimated that we were going to fill up 1 big whole square.So she called all of our names and our estimate was wrong we only filled up a half of the square. written by teammate H.R.

Poem

In Team 184 we recorded the poem I Love the Look of Words. It is by: Maya Angelou. It goes like this. Popcorn leaps, popping from the floor of a hot black skillet and into my mouth. Black Words leap, snapping from the white page. Rushing into my eyes sliding into my brain which gobbles them the way my tongue and teeth chomp the buttered popcorn. When I have stop reading ideas from the word stay stuck in my mind, like the sweet smell of butter perfuming my fingers long after the popcorn is finished. I love the book and the look of words the weight of ideas that popped into my mind I love the tracks of new thinking in my mind. THE END.

Class Dojo

We are now starting Class Dojo.  It is something that we do for doing better for our reactions, so Mrs.Kaufman has the class iPad with it on. She watches us while we are a class together, and if she sees us do something right she ads a point to our Class Dojo avatar.  If she sees us do something wrong she takes one away. The class DOJO is a good way to be better students.

In team 184 we go tour new Journey books and we are reading about magnets.  We learned about how magnets stick to things.  We took magnets around the room to see what they might stick to.  Today in team 184 we learned about how does electricmagnetes stick to things.

Yellow Packet to Practice Editing

On Team 184 we got a yellow packet and if 5 people finsh they get to eat lunch in room 184 with Mrs.Kaufman. I bet it was a lot of hard work to finsh the packet. And  you can do it for choice or bell work. A lot of people is trying to get it finsh to eat lunch with Mrs.Kaufman.

Free Rice

Last week Team 184 played Free Rice for our PAT time.  We got to do math, vocabulary, and world flags.  Each time we got one right, we would get ten grains of rice to give another kid that doesn't have food.  Each time we got 1,000 grains of rice, we would add it on the chalkboard and we got 4,000 grains of rice!


                       It was a lot of fun!

Geometry Art

Our class worked on a three step geometry art project.  

First we traced shapes with cutouts.

Then we colored them with markers.

After that we sprayed water on the picture and the water made the markers bleed.

Then we waited for it to dry.  

Finally we traced the parts that bled with sharpies.

Airplane Inquiry

Team 184 made airplanes for science. 

We got to fly them in the class.  Mrs.Kaufman helped us measure where our airplanes landed. 

We changed one thing on the airplane to see if it would go further.  We were learning about variables. 

We also went outside and we got into a big group and we threw them up in the air. Then we got spread out and threw them up in the air.

It was a lot of fun. When we walked back in the class some kids said that was a BLAST.

Concord Singers

The Concord Singers came to Ox Bow yesterday.  So did the dance group and jazz band.  They were soooooo good!  What a great way to spend the morning.  Maybe one day we'll be Concord Singers!
